
Dana Redd has served as vice chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee since 2006. Over this time she has been recognized as a forceful but compassionate voice for New Jersey Democrats across New Jersey.
Redd serves as State Senator of the 5th Legislative District which includes Camden County municipalities of Audubon, Barrington, Bellmawr, Brooklawn, Camden, Gloucester City, Haddon Heights, Hi-Nella, Lawnside, Magnolia, Mt. Ephraim, Runnemede, Somerdale, Stratford, Woodlynne and parts of Gloucester County including Deptford, Westville, Woodbury City and Woodbury Heights.
She currently serves as a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. Before being elected to the Senate, Redd served with distinction on Camden City Council. She was first elected as a councilwoman in 2001 and has been a strong advocate for Camden's diverse neighborhoods by fighting for issues of fairness and parity. She currently serves as vice president of the local governing body, chair of the Finance Committee and as a member of the Public Works Committee and Administration Committee.
A lifelong resident of the City of Camden, Redd graduated from Rutgers University's Camden Campus in 1996 with a degree in business studies with a minor in accounting. Since her graduation from Rutgers University, Dana Redd has devoted herself to a career in public service.
She also donates her time and talent to civic-minded organizations in the South Jersey region including the American Red Cross, Camden County Board of Social Services, West Jersey Health & Hospital Foundation, Camden Eye Center and the New Jersey Redistricting Commission. Redd previously served on the board of directors for the Camden County Council of Girl Scouts and Literacy Volunteers of America.
Dana Redd is a recipient of the African-American Women's Network 1998 Bronze Star Award and Respond, Inc. Award for Outstanding Leadership in Government and the Camden County East Branch NAACP 2002 Visionary Leader Award.
