Save the Jersey Shore

Last month, John McCain came to New Jersey to talk about how much he loves the environment. But now he wants to put the natural beauty of our Jersey Shore at risk, all for a few barrels of oil. McCain has caved-in to Big Oil and endorsed President Bush’s plan to open up the Jersey shore to oil drilling. In New Jersey Democrats, Republicans and Independents all agree on the need to protect the pristine natural condition of the Jersey Shore.

Join us in sending John McCain and George Bush an E-Postcard from the Jersey Shore to tell them to keep their Big Oil buddies off our shoreline.

New Democrats

Great news! We’re just now getting some hard numbers back illustrating how many new Democrats we have in New Jersey and they’re turning out better than we thought!

According to our latest numbers, we’ve added over half a million newly declared Democrats! Our registration advantage went from about 240,000 (roughly 1.07 million Democrats to 830,000 Republicans) to 600,000 (roughly 1.6 million Democrats to 1 million Republicans).

These are amazing numbers that show we are the party of change and people are sick and tired of the GOP and won’t allow a third Bush term under John McCain. Now, only two of our thirteen Congressional Districts have more registered Republicans than Democrats. Before these updated numbers, all 6 Republican held districts had an advantage. Those two remaining districts won’t hold that advantage for long if we keep working hard.

McCainpedia

The DNC has launched McCainpedia, the latest online tools designed to provide greater access to information and resources. McCainpedia is an electronic encyclopedia that provides the opportunity for anyone, anywhere to review the raw facts and research of John McCain's record and then use it or share it in any way they choose. By visiting, you're a mouse-click away from our research on John McCain.

Today’s highlighted issue is an important one for New Jersey, the uninsured. George Bush and John McCain have consistently fought against crucial SCHIP legislation and in so doing have put healthcare at risk for tens of thousands of New Jersey children.
